DALLAS (Hotels.com) – The average cost to stay in a hotel in Texas is 9 percent lower than last year, according to the Hotel Price Index, compiled by Hotels.com.
The average price per room per night was $109 across the state from January through June of this year, down from $121 for the same period in 2008.
In Austin, the average price for a hotel fell 7 percent from $129 in the first half of 2008 to $120 in the first half of 2009.
San Antonio saw a 14 percent drop from $140 in the first six months of 2008 to $120 during the same period in 2009.
Houston hotel prices fell 6 percent, from $124 to $116, and Dallas hotel prices fell only slightly, from $124 in 2008 to $122 in 2009.
